2 ART AND DESIGN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Pupils can enter this course if they have gained Standard Grade Art and Design at general level. COURSE OUTLINE Pupils must complete three units: Expressive, Design and Art and Design Studies 1. Expressive Unit: This unit will ask pupils to complete a series of studies related to the visual arts, exploring personal thoughts and feelings through a variety of media. 2. Design Unit: This unit is problem solving regarding the investigation of a design brief and following up all the practical work of investigating, considering and producing a final outcome. 3. Art and Design Studies: This is mainly a research area where pupils are asked to write about and gather information about artists and designers. COURSE ASSESSMENT Assessment will be continuous throughout the session with a final internal assessment at the end of the session. There will also be a three hour practical external exam and a one-hour external written exam. |
