ART AND DESIGN ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Pupils must have gained a Credit pass at Standard Grade and be able to work independently and conscientiously. COURSE OUTLINE Pupils must complete three units: Expressive, Design and Art and Design Studies Expressive Unit This is an investigation into the visual arts, producing a series of work from a personal theme. The bulk of this unit will be drawing and painting. Design Unit This unit is problem solving regarding the investigation of a design brief following up with practical work, investigating, considering and producing a final outcome. Art and Design Studies This is mainly a research area where pupils are asked to write about and gather information about artists and designers, of which they have a special interest. COURSE ASSESSMENT Assessment will be continuous throughout the session with a final internal assessment given on completion of units. There will also be a three-hour external practical exam and a two hour external written exam. All unit work will be forwarded to the SQA exam board at the end of the session for final assessment. |
